Strategy Development for Knowledge Transfer in Asian Academic Community (Intellectual Property and Human Resources)

Background

  • The recent government policy in many Asian nations heavily weights to IP(ie. Intellectual Property Strategy Program of Japan)
  • Development of Asian technologies (Rapid increase of the number of patent applications and dissertations)
  • Development of open innovation (ie. Active international technology transfer, R&D activities by Japanese corporations in non-Japan Asia)

The importance of the Asian technology intellectual property strategy

Objectives

Construction of the IP norm/rules with cooperation between Asian groups generating knowledge (academia):

  1. Leadership in Asian technology community in developing human resources and community network that can better discuss IP strategies in the region
  2. IP norm/rules in Asia focusing on a balance of adjusted interests of the community, much less so in the conventional, enforcing arguments

Goal

Develop an academic community of science and technology in Asia (China, Korea, Vietnam and India etc) of distinguished academicians (about 100 people) by 2010
->Concretely we aim to establish, for instance, Asian IP Society like IPAJ( Intellectual Property Association of Japan).
Develop international network and human capital for the community
